Hanoi, Vietnam, 24 July 2024 – APISWA, in collaboration with the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EUABC) and EuroCham Vietnam, hosted a Tax Policy Roundtable in Hanoi on 24 July. During the roundtable, Olivia Widen represented APISWA in presenting on “Lessons from Different Practices on Special Consumption Tax”, which highlighted the adverse effects of high alcohol taxes, such as inducing illicit trade, revenue loss, and health risks from unregulated products.

The event was attended by over 40 participants, including officials from Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, speakers from the International Monetary Fund and the French and Australian Embassies. The roundtable received coverage from several local news outlets, including Lao Dong News, Cong Thuong News, and Urban Economy News.
